Why we started — and why Los Angeles specifically.
Our founder spent years inside the funeral industry. He knew how it worked — the corporate consolidation, the pressure on staff to upsell, the way grief was treated as a sales opportunity rather than a human experience that deserved dignity.
Los Angeles is one of the largest funeral markets in the country. It's also one of the most consolidated — the same few corporate players own dozens of funeral homes operating under different names. Families often don't know they're dealing with a national conglomerate until they're already in the process.
In 2020, he left and started Direct Cremation LA with a straightforward premise: one price, everything included, no games. A service that treats families the way any of us would want to be treated — with honesty, patience, and real care.
We're not the biggest cremation provider in LA. We don't want to be. We want to be the one that families in this city trust, recommend, and are glad they found.
